Before the Revolution John Lock, a Enlightenment thinker, made Two Treaties, Locke argued that no monarchy had a divine right to exist; kings held power by the luck of their birth. Locke's second treatise, stating that governments should only exist by the consent of the governed. Also proposed that society might benefit from a separation of the governments powers. The Revolutionary War was the war the made America what it is today! It was the point in time when people stood up for themselves and fought for their rights. People were tired of being told what to do and "taxation without representation" -James Otis, that's when they took things into there own hands...
